Alienware gets a refresh on its AMD M15 and M17 at CES 2022

Alienware doesn’t have to reinvent the wheel every year to deliver solid gaming laptop power. It arrived at CES 2022 with some powerful refreshes from its flagship models – the M15 and M17. The updates include a full suite of AMD hardware updates and more for Spring 2022.

If you know Alienware, you already know that the M15 and M17 have made a few orbits around the sun. Both versions feature Dolby Vision and Atmos certification, as well as Alienware’s new Smart Fan control. This essentially allows you to control the speed of each fan individually for your gaming needs.

Alienware M15 2022

The smaller machine – shown at the top of this article – is in the R7 version and will launch with the latest AMD Ryzen processors in it.

We don’t have all the details yet, but we don’t have to wait long for more information. You can pick up the Alienware M15 R7 in Spring 2022, starting at $1,499.

The larger Alienware M17 is of the R5 generation. It packs between the AMD Ryzen 7 6800H and Ryzen 9 6980HX processor on board. You can also opt for Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 graphics or double opt for AMD with the Radeon RX 6850M XT GPU.

The M17 offers up to 4 TB of PCle NVMe SSD space with up to 64 GB of DDR5 RAM. Alienware has also revamped Qualcomm’s Wi-Fi technology, now with support for 6E. As always, you can outfit the laptop with AlienFX per-key lighting with 16.8 million color options.

The Alienware M17 R5 will land in Spring 2022 starting at $1,599.

Other Alienware Gaming Gear

Beyond laptop updates, Alienware also brought a powerful external monitor to CES 2022. The 34-inch Curved QD-OLED Gaming Monitor is one of the first to use a quantum dot display for improved color uniformity and wider color coverage. It offers up to 1,000 nits of peak brightness with an Nvidia G-Sync Ultimate certification and a 175 Hz refresh rate. RGB fans can also use AlienFX via the rear stadium loop.

The 34 Curved QD-OLED Gaming Display will be launched in China on March 2, 2022 and released on a larger scale in late March.

To round out your gaming setup, Alienware has announced the Tri-Mode Wireless Gaming Headset and Mouse. The headset includes Dolby Atmos surround sound, 40mm drivers and up to 30 hours of playback on a single charge. It’s designed for comfort with memory foam ear cups and AlienFX lighting for good measure. The mouse relies on an ambidextrous design with up to 26,000 DPI and offers up to 140 hours of use with a USB-C dongle or 420 hours of Bluetooth playback.

Both accessories will launch on February 9, 2022 in Lunar Light finishes.
