  • Honor has revealed that the Honor Magic V foldable is in the works.
  • The company says the device will be released soon.
  • Previous rumors point to a foldable Galaxy Z Fold style.

Honor has been independent from Huawei for about a year now, launching the mid-range Honor 50 series and flagship Honor Magic 3 series among several other devices. Now, the company has revealed that it will soon be launching its first foldable.

The Chinese manufacturer posted a teaser image on Weibo, confirms the name Honor Magic V and gives us a tantalizing look at the device itself. You can view the image below.

The image doesn’t really give us any clue as to whether this is a clamshell foldable or a foldable book in the style of the Galaxy Z Fold line. But a July 2021 report from the Elec claimed that an upcoming foldable Honor will have an 8.03-inch folding screen with ultra-thin glass and a 6.45-inch external display. So it sounds like you should expect a Fold competitor.

The text in the accompanying message doesn’t give us an exact release date, just that it will be released “soon”. In any case, we hope that the foldable tablet will also be released outside of Honor’s home market, as we have seen several manufacturers launch foldable devices only in China.
