- The Xiaomi 12 family is expected to hit the global market in late February or early March.
- This would cause a slight delay compared to the Mi 11 series last year.
The Xiaomi 12 series was launched in China late last month as one of the first family of devices to be powered by the flagship processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Unfortunately, we didn’t hear anything about global availability at the time.
Now, frequent tipster Mukul Sharma has told MySmartPrice that the Xiaomi 12 series will be launched outside of China in late February or early March. The tipster also suggests that the Indian launch will take place around the same time or “soon after” this window.
A launch in late February or early March would cause a slight delay compared to last year’s Mi 11 release timeline. Xiaomi’s previous flagship was launched in China at the end of December 2020 and the phone will hit the global market on February 8, 2021.
The Xiaomi 12 series consists of at least three devices, namely the Xiaomi 12X, Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro. The vanilla and Pro models are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, while the 12X gets a Snapdragon 870 processor. However, the Pro variant is clearly the most capable model of the lot, with a QHD+ display, 120W charging and a more flexible rear camera system (50MP main, 50MP ultra-wide angle, 50MP 2X telephoto).
The phones will retail for 3,199 Yuan (~$502), 3,699 Yuan (~$581) and 4,699 Yuan (~$738) respectively. But we expect a significant price increase when they come to most markets outside of China.
